Research Manager-Consulting(1people)
IDC seeks an individual with diverse experience and interest in IT research, with a background in a consulting or market research firm, for a newly created position. As part of the IDC Consulting Team, based in Beijing-China, the successful candidate will focus on China or projects from China-based companies that include international markets, ranging from business development, proposal generation, through analysis and project fulfillment. Although the position spans many areas within technology including software, hardware, services, and telecommunications, specialization in one area is considered particularly advantageous.
Primary responsibilities of this position include:
Provide support to regional and global custom consulting research projects
Ownership of research project ranging from proposal generation to analysis. Other tasks include support for business development, project management, strategy creation, writing and presentation in both Chinese and English
Coordinate and conduct all aspects of research on each project including data gathering, analysis and processing, report writing, and client facing presentations
Client relationship management
Interacting and managing client's expectation by providing effective project management coordination between multiple countries within IDC
Interested individuals that meet the following minimum requirements are encouraged to apply:
Individuals with 3-8 years job experience in a market research firm, a market intelligence division of an InfoComm company, a consultancy focused on InfoComm. Individuals with proven project management expertise and experience in the InfoComm industry will also be considered favorably.
Individuals with ICT experience in both China and across the region will be preferred
Minimum university or college degree, BA, BSc or equivalent. MBA advantageous.
Exposure to a cross section of ICT technologies
Exceptional communication skills - written and verbal mastery of English required - additional languages, particularly Mandarin or Cantonese, considered a plus
MS Excel and PowerPoint advanced level and SPSS intermediate level experience required. Familiarity with Access, or similar database a plus.
Ability to conduct interviews and gather information resourcefully from both vendors and users
Ability to analyze data and articulate insights in documented or presentation forms to audience and clients
Background in marketing strategy, branding strategy, customer behaviour analysis and/or price-cost analysis will be a plus
The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, consistently maintaining & meeting deadlines, and communicate information internally throughout the region and to clients. A sense of ownership, good entrepreneurial skills, strong organizational and project management skills, and a hands-on approach are essential to succeed in this role. Title will be commensurate with experience.
